Yes, this lens will …
Yes, this lens will work on your D40 as a manual focus lens, and it is the Nikon 70-300mm f/4-f/5.6 G, sorry for not including it in the description.

Cheers

No problem. The D60 …
No problem. The D60 is not equipped with the autofocus engine that is required for the 70-300mm. Therefore it will not focus with your D60. However if you so choose, the 70-300mm VR, which is about 300$ more than the lens shown in the video, will be capable of autofocusing with your D60. Just a few things to consider.

Peace

You’re right. …
You’re right. Although it’s of a low build quality, the optics are acceptable under appropriate lighting conditions. And the vibration reduction feature would certainly be useful. But this lens has proven to be useful in practice.

Cheers

The best point is …
The best point is the price, it is easily out performed by other tele zoom lenses, which are at least twice as expensive. I would still go for a more expensive one, this one is made of plastic, even the lens mount. VR is quite usefull too with a tele lens like this.

So buy this because you want a cheap one, not a very good one.

ProPhoto540: …
ProPhoto540: Because D40 doesn’t have a focusing “screwdriver” which is needed to focus with AF/AF-D lenses. D40 will focus only with AF-S lenses, which have their own focusing engine.

Now i have the telephoto lens, what i need – MF 70-210/4. Very good, but very cheap! My dad buy it for me only for about 100$…

I was using only 18-55 before, so it’s too big for me.

But i will be respected, when i will shoot sports :)

The 70-300mm VRII …
The 70-300mm VRII would certain be a good choice for an outdoor trip. Since you have a D40, and not a D80, I would recommend the VR model since it will autofocus with your camera. But the VR elemenet wont make much of a difference.

I’m considering the 70-300mmVR for my D40 to take long range outdoor photos on an upcoming trip. would this lens be my best option?
